As a SWAT officer I have tried many different products and tested many different grip configurations but this one, along with Magpul's MOE-K2, are my favorite setup to date. Their polymer products are tough and light weight which are necessary for any operator's gear. It can be used to carry a rifle, provide more stability when lining up a shot, and retain your rifle should someone try to grab it away from you. Nice texture and very light weight though. A sling is essential, maybe the most important AR-15 accessory. It would be better if it were a solid piece with just the tension screws but instead there's a removable section that you have to align from the other side of the 1913 rail which makes it a bit slow to adjust.
A bit shorter than my hand but functions well. Also like to say that the transaction with SKD was easy and lightning fast shipping. Very compact, fit and feel are great too. Hard to justify spending the big bucks on a fancy or aluminum vertical grip when this one serves the purpose so perfectly and affordably. I keep considering other products but always come back to this one. When factoring in cost, build quality, and size, nothing beats the RVG in overall value. All 3 holes then chamferd for the standard flat head 8-32 keymod screws using a countersink bit. Drilled the 2 holes for the keymod nuts & the center hole for the locking block.

If I were some larger organization and I could bulk buy AND had a finite expected life span for the system as a whole AND force people to use certain setups and techniques it would be more tempting.Really well made, and easy to install and adjust. Then made a backing plate from 1/8' aluminum. Therefore, anything that can have a 1913 rail stuck on it is workable. I'll even try two or three different types of the same accessory to find the one I like the best. Magpuls MOE Buttstock is a standard feature on many manufacturers AR15/M16 carbines as well as a drop-in accessory for those with a standard M4 style. I suspect that will continue to be the standard for a while now.Īs a lone consumer, it's not worth it to switch over to either yet, I need to be able to pick and choose the best prices on accessories. (marginally) There is just not enough market room for both Keymod and M-LOK both of wich will remain minor players while the military still uses 1913 rails. Not to mention M-LOK is technically better. I notice that the very first accessory made for any new modular rail is a 1913 section. Magpul just has too much marketing weight and the ability to churn out M-LOK accessories at a much faster rate than Keymod has so far. Should every single accessory you use be built for that system? Even sights, lasers, VFGs, lights and/or light mounts, sling mounts? Does that require you to buy everything from the same manufacturer? That's why manufacturers like them. Actually, yes, KeyMod is more difficult to make, but, as evidenced by more and more military users going M-LOK after testing or using both, it’s also inferior in pretty much every metric.
